Medical Rants!! We Discuss Medical Inconsistencies

In this episode, we go over some of the medical stuff that happens in the series that drives Jen crazy. So, we first go over how Jen is super frustrated by when Louise is there for every kind of medical condition or procedure. Then we discuss how concussions actually happen and how they should be treated vs how they are portrayed in the series. For example, you shouldn't go to a party directly after having a concussion like Peabody did in "Rapture," you should instead go directly to the hospital and get drugs like Baxter did in "Survivor." Next, Jen goes over what actual medical shock is and why it's radically different from when people are "shocky" in the series. Then we both tell a few really gory stories about injuries that we've seen, so feel free to fast forward about 10 minutes if you don't want to hear those stories. After that, we talk about how torn ligaments don't seem to be a huge issue in the series, but Jen says it's way more serious than the book makes that seem. Also: a fracture and a break are the same thing. But whether it's a sprain or a strain or a ACL tear, Jen is advising you to NOT go to the ER or Urgent Care with that, because most of the time, they won't know how to treat it correctly. Make an appointment with a doctor that will give you an MRI. If it's a hairline fracture, you can wait 24 to 48 Hours, BUT, if it's a break and you can actually see the bone or it's otherwise very bad, YES, go to the ER. We also talk a little bit about whether or not Eve could actually conceive and give birth do a child or children, given her past. After that, We talk about some of the futuristic medical advancements in the series like the Healing Wand, and also some of the things we see today that seem advanced enough to be in the series.
