In this episode, we discuss a recent
post that Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb made on her blog, "Fall into the Story," labeled "Trust Me." In this blog post, she talks about readers who complain about things like their favorite characters not making an appearance in the last book, among other things. We read the blog post and then discuss it. We also read a blog post from Laura, Nora's personal publicist that discusses basically the same thing.
We give our opinions on these posts, and it really boils down do this: Readers are perfectly justified in complaining about the series or any individual book in the series,
but not in NORA'S SPACES! Do not go on Nora's Facebook page or Blog, or send her emails, complaining. Keep those complaints to fan spaces, on your own Facebook page or your own blog or on a place like Goodreads.
Also, if you're going to complain,
MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!! Don't say things like, "There is more swearing in this new book than there ever has been in any book before! They never used to swear like this"
UNLESS YOU HAVE VERIFIED THAT IS A TRUE STATEMENT (which it would not be if you did your homework). Not only does it make you look dumb, it is really insulting to Nora.
Obviously, most of the complaints that we make in this episode is NOT directed to our own listeners because our listeners are
AMAZING and would never complain in this way.
That being said, Thanks to all of you who listen to us!
Slaínte!
