This week we talk about what has become known as a “YANNI.” This is an acronym for “Yet Another Noticeable Nora Inconsistency” or “Yet Another Nonesensical Nora Inconsistency.” It was just our term for some of the little (or big) inconsistencies that Nora made in the books.
Before we go any further, we say that no author…NO AUTHOR…is perfect. In a series as long as this one, it would be surprising if there were no consistency errors at all. We do not blame Nora for those, but more we really wish Nora’s publisher would hire a continuity person to make sure these kinds of errors don’t make it to the published version.
OR…Nora or her editors could use the In Death Wiki on Fandom.com.
Most of these errors are minor: Names being changed (Morris to Morse then back to Morris) and small things like that. But, there was one major error having to do with Dr. Mira’s past that Nora very seamlessly corrected in later books.
We give several examples of some YANNI’s, but mostly, we go off topic in this episode.
To see more of the YANNI’s that we’ve caught over the years, you can see the YANNI page on the Wiki.
