In this episode, we talk with our listener Michelle Kenyon again! You might remember Michelle from the episode we did in October of 2022 about Eve's Fear of Tech. This week, AJ and Jen are talking with Michelle about the Nora Roberts stand alone suspense novel, "Identity."
We all loved this book and feel that it feels more like one of Nora's classic suspense novels like Jen and Michelle's favorite: Birthright.
This book is about Morgan Albright who, as she was just starting to put down roots and build a life in Baltimore, she was duped by a man, Gavin Rozwell, who gained access to her home and computer, and in doing so, stole her identity. He intended to also kill Morgan, but killed her roommate instead.
After having her life and finances upended by the identity theft, Morgan decides to leave Baltimore and start over again by moving in with her mother and grandmother in their home in Vermont. She gets a new job at a ski resort owned by the prominent Jameson family, and develops a relationship with Miles Jameson, who is the oldest Jameson son.
Morgan is slowly piecing her life back together, but is still haunted by the man who stole her identity. Gavin Rozwell sees Morgan as "The One That Got Away," and is making it clear that he is working his way back to her to finish the job.
What we found interesting about this book is that even though other Nora books are more gruesome in terms of the murders committed, this book seems more disturbing due to the identity theft and how Rozwell so thoroughly ruins Morgan's life.
We really enjoyed this book, and we highly recommend it!
At the end of the podcast we mention that we have set up a Go Fund Me account to help with Jen's expenses due to her breast cancer diagnosis, and also for AJ to help pay the vet bills she incurred while trying to save Hoover from his rattlesnake attack. If you can donate, we would really appreciate the help.
Thanks!
